What do you mean by poverty? Because we are all thinking about the person, who is sitting every morning next to the supermarket of our neighbourhood, asking for charity. But, and in the other side of the world? There are also poor people living in unhealthy conditions, having difficulties to meet the basic material needs and dying at every second we live.

 

Nowadays, it is understood that being por is a synonym of being inferior to you. If they are poor is because they have no easy access to the basic resources, if a person doesn’t have the basic material needs we may confirm he is poor. When we listen to the word “poor”, we usually think of people who have always lived in a difficult society with no family-support. As for the conditions that a person may have to use in order to afford resource, I think that it is not the same having the access to choose which outfit you are going to wear than always wearing the same trousers or t-shirt. In this picture we can see a man that is wearing an old-fashioned, baggy, long, plain, denim trousers, a pair of black, plain, sports shoes, and an ugly, loose, black, plain, leather, long-sleeved jacket. The fact that he is wearing the hood makes us see that it is getting cold, we can deduct that he doesn’t have money to buy hotter clothes for him and his daughter, because she is wearing an eyesore, fitted, plain, denim trousers, a big, black and white, plain, long-sleeved, down jacket. We cannot see if she is wearing shoes or not, but I suppose that she is wearing a pair of old-fashionable, plain shoes. Although they don’t have money, we can see that the father is taking care of his daughter because he doesn’t like the future that his child is going to have. On the right of the picture we can see lots of papers, plastics, in general trash on the floor. And on the left of the picture there is a full backpack, I suppose that in the bag there is the minimum food, clothes, water for his daughter first and after for him. I can guess that they don’t have a family who is supporting they, because family are the ones who are in the good and the bad times, the girl may not have any concept learned in the school because she had never gone to it. They need food, water, protection, hygiene, a ceiling where to live, among others, but the most important thing that they need is the love of his family and friends. They must always be thinking about what is the reason of living with that conditions and probably they cannot find it, they must also be thinking about the life of the people that is passing in front of them and they don’t give anything for they…

 

In conclusion for me being poor is the lack of having access to health conditions in order to meet the basic material needs. And more, taking into account that depending on your origin of being poor you may have the lack of family support -a person who lives in a poor society can’t have this type of help, but a person who comes from a standard nation could have this lack and turn out to be poor-.
